The demand is rising

We are committed to respond to as many calls as possible and are reluctant to turn anyone down. Our Kosher parcels serve as a relief for those who have suffered redundancy and bereavement due to COVID-19 – particularly large families with school aged children who are struggling due to the lack of free school meals.

Undertaking errands

Our volunteers do shopping, banking and delivering. These serve as vital aid for the elderly and vulnerable in self-isolation.

“When my husband was hit with the dreaded virus, it felt as though the world was falling apart. After hours in the emergency room, we realized we were facing a long journey, filled with uncertainty and fear.

To further complicate the situation, I was no longer able to work, nor leave the house to visit my husband. I was already crumbling from the stress of lockdown, taking care of the household needs, while my 4 kids were all home, and now had deal with the overwhelming strain of my husband’s condition.

At first, friends and family pitched in, but despite their best efforts, it was not enough and we were sinking quickly into a sea of debt and chaos. Then, Food Lifeline’s volunteers stepped in to take care of our basic errands and grocery shopping while we were in isolation. When the Food Lifeline packages started arriving, it was a huge relief. Just knowing that my family would not be hungry allowed me to concentrate on my husband’s needs and we were slowly able to recover. Thank you will never suffice.”

“We were barely scraping a living when lockdown was suddenly enforced and, with it, my redundancy as a former van driver, the closure of schools and no free meals for the kids. On top of the daily struggle to provide food and our concern for their education, the tense family dynamics were exacerbated by the restrictions keeping our 5 children indoors in our overcrowded flat.

The food parcels from Food Lifeline were literally heaven-sent. Thoughtfully including food staples, snacks and healthy treats, it helped us get through this dark time in our lives, relieving the pressure and anxiety. We were able to focus on effectively homeschooling our kids and even secure ourselves a remote-based job.

We could never have pulled through without Food Lifeline. Our gratitude knows no bounds.”
